“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (Jam 2:17)
Our faith is important to us. It defines who we are and what we believe. Yet if it is not translated into actions, it is worthless, or as James, with his usual subtlety, puts it, dead.
This is as true at work as it is in church or in helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves. It is not only about giving; it is about being or even more correctly, about doing. There is no escaping this fundamental truth: our faith has to compel us into action if it is real. Without works, our faith is not real. A question for us all to consider is this: what do I do at work that demonstrates my faith?
Quick Prayer: I commit to working hard, Lord. Amen.
