“Do not slander a servant to their master, or they will curse you, and you will pay for it.” (Pro 30:10)
There is something in human nature that finds satisfaction or even delight in gossip, slander, and having a good whine. Today take a listen to the conversations at work and see how often this is the case. If you want a shock, listen to how much you do it yourself.
There is a price we pay when we operate in this way and give into our human natures. It poisons our ability to see clearly regarding the person in question. Our insight and clarity diminish as we cloud out God’s thoughts with the words we speak.
We also run a risk that others will repeat what we say and that it will eventually reach the ears of others. If we wish to be deemed trustworthy, we have to avoid slander so that it doesn’t come back to get us.
Quick Prayer: Keep me free of slander, Jesus. Amen.
