“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Cor 5:18-19) (NIV)

What is it to have a ministry in reconciliation? When we preach in church we minister to a very small minority. When we demonstrate and communicate our faith in the marketplace we are impacting a majority. If we are to see a significant move of God with multitudes saved, it will be because we have taken the gospel out of the church and into the real world.

We have a mandate from Jesus and the demonstration of His disciples who took the Gospel out into the world. Francis of Assisi said preach the Gospel at all times, use words if necessary. Let our lives show the imprint of the God we serve.

The power of influence today sits less with governments and more with business. Global business transcends borders and the influence, both good and bad, of economics and trade, dictates global stability and prosperity. Redeeming business should be a priority.

The current crisis is as much a crisis of faith as economics. We would be in a better state had the mantras of free trade and financial liberation, been seated in a base of ethics, moderation, social conscience and fiscal responsibility.

Bring reconciliation to your family, business, staff and management, industry, and marketplace. Demonstrate ethics and generosity, go the extra mile, take the time to share your faith, and impact your environment for good. The Holy Spirit will empower you, and guide you as you serve Him and His purpose in your call to business.
