“I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.” (Psa 16:7)
If you are an entrepreneur or an ideas person, you may sometimes be called a dreamer. Perhaps you are a contemplative person and maybe this label applies to you also. Take it as a compliment.
God can talk to us through our dreams. Even at night He can impact our lives. If you have a dream, take it to Him, and ask Him what it means. God can guide us during the day and talk to us during the night. The Bible is full of people who heard God in dreams. Don’t limit the way that He will talk to you.
Quick Prayer: Guide me through dreams, Lord. I expect to hear You in this way. Amen.
“If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.” (1 Corinthians 9:17)
As we go about our daily business, we are often so intent on the task we don’t take the time to consider the circumstances of those around us. We are surrounded by people who may be struggling, and dealing with all sorts of family, health or financial issues.
Going beyond the physical; what about spiritual wellbeing. There is an eternity to live, and only one way in. We literally hold the keys to eternal life. Do we believe that? Then what stops us from sharing the good news with others? Pride? What will people think? Will we really let that stand between someone and eternity.
Ask God to open your eyes to those around you. Somewhere in your world today is someone, who needs to hear some truth. And the Truth shall set them free.
Quick Prayer. “Lead me to someone who needs to hear about you today.” Amen
“To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.” (Deuteronomy 10:14)
What do we really own? All that we have is God’s. We are merely stewards, who will, one day, give account for what we have done, with that which we were entrusted.
Our bank statements will show where our hearts are. But stewardship goes beyond the financial. We all have talents, gifts and abilities. How are we developing and maximizing the impact of that which has been given to us?
Do we work with excellence, and with a sober realization that God is in all, owns all, and will require a return? Do we allocate time effectively for all our ministry, at home, work, and church?
These are big questions but there is only one answer. It is all His; and that perspective changes everything.
Quick Prayer. “It’s all yours Lord.” Amen
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
I don’t know about you but I could do with more understanding. In particular an understanding that comes from the revelation of listening to the Holy Spirit. He is waiting to be invited into your business and wants to walk with you, guiding, leading, empowering and bringing understanding.
Let’s not relegate God’s wisdom and our understanding to a seemingly sacred context. Being vitally interested in our vocation, our calling at work, He is always willing to give insight. Invite Him into your business world again today.
Quick Prayer. “Help me to walk closely with you Holy Spirit.” Amen
“Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10)
Wow! What a promise. All the promises of God are “yes and amen” to those who love Jesus (see 2 Cor 1:20). You will have more than enough when you are faithful and honor God with your income. His Word is true; He is not a man that He would lie (see Num 23:19). Do we dare to accept Him according to His Word and exercise faith and action to appropriate His promise?
This is a mind-bending promise but one that is true because God said it was so. How we honor God with our first fruits is between us and God, and many errors have been placed on this truth. The important part is recognizing the truth of His provision and actually acting on it to reflect the command to honor Him with the cream of the crop.
Quick Prayer. “Thank you that you are a generous God. Please bless me according to your Word, as I have sought to be faithful to your will.” Amen
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)
You are what you say. God spoke the world into being and we are created in His image. how many have been damaged by having negative words spoken over them by a parent, teacher or minister?
Describing the tongue as having the power of life or death is about as strong a term as you could use. God is obviously placing a massive emphasis on the importance of what say, so therefore, so should we!
Watch what you say, be measured in your words, encourage, build up and edify those around you and yourself. You will inhabit the world created by your words.
Quick Prayer. “Help me to be aware of my words and the power they hold.” Amen
“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6)
How many times has God helped you out? How many times has He provided for you in your hour of need? Many times He works for our advantage and we are completely unaware.
So what should our response be? How often do we acknowledge Him in what we do, what we say and how we act. We can acknowledge it to Him. Saying thank you to God is an important part.
“Doing life” His way is a major way of acknowledging His Lordship in our lives. Acknowledging His Lordship in our influence and success, or overcoming of life’s problems, is not only a witness but will help align ourselves to His will.
When all is aid and done and we stand before God. The complexity of our journey will be shown to have been a straight path, where we have acknowledged Him and done it His way.
Quick Prayer. “Help me to remember to acknowledge you, in all I do.” Amen
“And if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:3)
Imagine the smartest guys in the world all in the same room? The business worlds who’s who. Buffet, Jobs, Gates, Morgan, whoever you want. You have absolute access. How exciting would that be?
We have access to a mind, an understanding, a power of change, a foreseer of all, with an infinite capacity, and all the time and individual attention we want. Yet sometimes we loose the comprehension of such access. It cost a lot. More than money can buy. Let’s not take it for granted.
There is an essence in the scripture that understanding and wisdom need to be toiled for, as searching for gold, or silver. There is a measure of discipline, sweat, dedication and work required. Will we pay the price for insight beyond our realm of understanding? Will we seek the wisdom of God? Wow, what a privilege to have access to to the throne room of unfathomable grace.
Quick Prayer. “Please give me insight into those things that prevail against me.” Amen
