“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.” (Matthew 25:14)
The resources that we have as individuals, and in companies that we own, or work for, are merely entrusted to us. We don’t really own them; they are on loan to us. A return is required, both in physical and spiritual terms. Are we good stewards, do we exercise wisdom and reject the sense of entitlement that so often pervades our thinking?
It is an honor to serve the King and do deal well and wisely with all He has entrusted into our care.
Quick Prayer. “Thank you for entrusting me with so much.” Amen
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)
You are what you say. God spoke the world into being and we are created in His image. how many have been damaged by having negative words spoken over them by a parent, teacher or minister?
Describing the tongue as having the power of life or death is about as strong a term as you could use. God is obviously placing a massive emphasis on the importance of what say, so therefore, so should we!
Watch what you say, be measured in your words, encourage, build up and edify those around you and yourself. You will inhabit the world created by your words.
Quick Prayer. “Help me to be aware of my words and the power they hold.” Amen
“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6)
How many times has God helped you out? How many times has He provided for you in your hour of need? Many times He works for our advantage and we are completely unaware.
So what should our response be? How often do we acknowledge Him in what we do, what we say and how we act. We can acknowledge it to Him. Saying thank you to God is an important part.
“Doing life” His way is a major way of acknowledging His Lordship in our lives. Acknowledging His Lordship in our influence and success, or overcoming of life’s problems, is not only a witness but will help align ourselves to His will.
When all is aid and done and we stand before God. The complexity of our journey will be shown to have been a straight path, where we have acknowledged Him and done it His way.
Quick Prayer. “Help me to remember to acknowledge you, in all I do.” Amen
“And if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:3)
Imagine the smartest guys in the world all in the same room? The business worlds who’s who. Buffet, Jobs, Gates, Morgan, whoever you want. You have absolute access. How exciting would that be?
We have access to a mind, an understanding, a power of change, a foreseer of all, with an infinite capacity, and all the time and individual attention we want. Yet sometimes we loose the comprehension of such access. It cost a lot. More than money can buy. Let’s not take it for granted.
There is an essence in the scripture that understanding and wisdom need to be toiled for, as searching for gold, or silver. There is a measure of discipline, sweat, dedication and work required. Will we pay the price for insight beyond our realm of understanding? Will we seek the wisdom of God? Wow, what a privilege to have access to to the throne room of unfathomable grace.
Quick Prayer. “Please give me insight into those things that prevail against me.” Amen
“Roll your works upon the Lord, commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and so shall your plans be established and succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)
If only my thoughts were aligned to God’s will. Take a look at this scripture. If we cast our works onto Him, commit and trust them to Him, He will make us think along the lines of His will. Why? So that your plans will work, and you will have success!
That is staggering in it’s significance. Trust Him and He will turn our hearts to His will. We know that if we are in His will, He will guide us and lead us. How comforting to know that as we commit our works to Him, He will turn us to not only hear from Him, but our very thoughts become His thoughts. Truly the mind of Christ.
Quick Prayer. “I commit my business to you, please align my thoughts to your will that my plans may succeed.” Amen

“A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.” (Act 19:19)
When we recognize that God is calling us in a certain direction, or asking us to make some adjustment in our lives, there can be consequences that cost us in some way or another.
The cost could be in relationships with those who don’t want to give up some types of behavior. It could be in time or resources that are given to other areas. He may be calling us to give up some form of income or lifestyle that will cost us financially.
Giving up behaviors or items that do not honor God and are the result of true repentance demonstrate a real encounter and a changed life. What is God asking you to do today?
Quick Prayer: I realize repentance or a change can cost me. Give me the strength to change. Amen.
“She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.” (Pro 31:16)
Jesus was, and is, one of the greatest liberators of women in history—so much so that early writings see the ‘Christian Way’ as a political movement rather than a religious one. A key reason for this was the empowerment of women. In the society of the time, women were regarded as little more than chattels.
The clearest example we have of a great businessperson in the Bible is the Proverbs 31 woman. Here is a wonderful example of wisdom, application, diligence, and fiscal responsibility.
God is definitely into having women in business, so let’s not get in His way with some of our religiosity. There is no glass ceiling in God’s economy; He will exalt women into leadership roles if they allow Him to do so.
Quick Prayer: I will honor women as You did, Jesus. Amen.
