A Change of Heart.

“And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests.” (Nehemiah 2:8)

I like this Scripture because it says two things. Here was an audacious request for resources, but the answer was due to the gracious hand of God. This is the essence of what it is to walk with God in the marketplace—hearing from God, moving with passion and big goals, asking for favor, and seeing the hand of God move and work miracles in provision and outcomes.

Nehemiah was under no illusion about who is accomplishing the task and gave due credit to His Lord. Yet his hand was on the plough, working hard to achieve all he believed God was asking him to do.

Quick Prayer. “Give me the courage to dare to ask and watch your favor.” Amen

God wants you in business.

“So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, “Do business till I come.” (Luke 19:13)

“Do business til I come”? Some say God is not interested in business. His Word seems to disagree.

God is intimately interested in your work life. It is not an add-on or just a way to provide. He has asked you to work and will show you how to work in ways you will not expect.

Your ministry and calling is in the marketplace. Expect him to guide and lead you just as a minister in a church will be guided and led. There is no difference in the calling.

He wants you in business, where you are most effective.

Oh, and it is okay to relax and enjoy the journey.

Quick Prayer. “Thank you that you want me in business.” Amen
