“But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands.” (Psa 115:4)
Idols come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and guises. An idol is simply something we worship before God. You probably don’t have a statue in your house that you burn incense and sacrifice to every morning, yet that doesn’t mean you don’t have idols.
An idol can be work, career, a relationship, money, cars, or leisure; many, many things can be idols. When you have the choice to do it God’s way and something else prevails, the chances are an idol is not far away.
Even our religious form worship or serving God can be an idol if it comes between us and God. The Bible warns of a time where there is a form of godliness but one that denies God’s power.
Quick Prayer: Free me from religiosity and idols. Amen.
