Judge Yourself

“You, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?” (Rom 2:21)

It is always harder to preach than practice. At work, do we walk the talk, or do we just expect others to live up to our standards? While we are all given some level of influence in our workplace, we do have a responsibility to apply our message first to ourselves.

It is very, very easy to judge others and very hard to judge ourselves. We already know our excuses. They are, of course, most reasonable and understandable under the circumstances.

The first person who should measure up to what we teach, preach, or proclaim is ourselves. People are also all very well aware of their own shortcomings and may not necessarily benefit from us highlighting them, especially if we are demonstrating the same failing.

Quick Prayer: Keep me from hypocrisy, Jesus. Amen.
