A High Ideal.

“For it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’” (1 Pet 1:16)

To what standard are we called? To what level of purity are we to strive? How good is good enough? There is no judgment because we are declared holy by the one who will judge the world. It is not because we are righteous but because we received the righteousness of Christ—a free gift for any sinner.

The outworking of that is another matter. The impossible is only made possible when we know it is impossible in our hands, but we can do all things through Crist. We will not attain this holiness, but it is the required measure. We can only trust God and let Him work in us to work out His holiness.

Is it a paradox? Yes it is, but a strangely beautiful one.

Quick Prayer: Help me be holy as You are holy. Only You can truly transform me. Amen.
