What Can You Receive?

“To this John replied, ‘A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.’” (Joh 3:27)

All we have and all we are comes from the hand of the Father. All we achieve and receive comes from heaven. No one can boast and say that they have achieved this and that, for without God we would have nothing.

A gift can only be of value to a person who is willing to receive it. What is the position of our heart when it comes to receiving His gifts at work? If we assume that we are to operate in our own strength at work and that God is not really interested, there is a consequence. There will be gifts He has to give us that we do not receive because our hearts and prayers are not positioned to receive.

Quick Prayer: All I have is from Your hand. Amen.

A Gracious Hand

“I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, ‘Let us start rebuilding.’ So they began this good work.” (Neh 2:18)

The hand of God is gracious. That is a beautiful picture of how He influences us with His grace—a loving heavenly Father reaching down and gracefully touching and moving our hearts, spirits, and minds.

When the hand of grace is on you, the hearts of kings can be moved on your behalf. The favor of the people around you can materialize. The purpose of His grace, the moving of hearts, and the favor of the people was to complete a good work.

God always has a purpose when He intervenes in our affairs. He is an active participant in our lives and has good works for us to do that are prepared before the beginning of time.

Quick Prayer: Thank You for Your gracious hand. Amen.
