Friends.

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24)

Business people tend to have a lot of acquaintances but not too many friends. Taking the time to build deeper friendships is a great investment. Character full friends who will be with you regardless of circumstances have enormous value. Perhaps you too can be a friend like that and enrich someone else’s life.

We are all busy, but when we take the time to invest in others, we find ourselves surrounded by friends. The ones who give and take, who love with reciprocity, who live transparently, and who will hold us in mutual accountability—those are our true friends.

Like all worthwhile things, true friendships develop over time, needs care and consideration, and can endure the good times and the bad.

Quick Prayer. “Give me wisdom in my friendships please Lord.” Amen

Who Keeps You Sharp?

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

Who keeps you sharp? Who do you have in your life who you trust—who you can “do life with”? We all need people who love God who can keep us sharp.

Often in our busy lives those relationships have drifted away or may not even exist. Ask God today to bring someone into your life or reacquaint yourself with a true friend. Why not schedule in some time to stay sharp with good company?

Be careful of a life with many acquaintances and no true friends. We all need some accountability. In order to gain true friendship, we need to be a true friend. As in any relationship, we will only get out what we put in. Investing in friendship is a sure way to surround yourself with great friends.

Quick Prayer. “Lead me to people who I can trust Lord.” Amen

Walk Wise.

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20)

Character is often formed by osmosis. You will become like those you surround yourself with. Check the company you keep. Would you like to become more like them? Do they have character and a walk with God that challenges you to grow? The most unlikely people can have a wonderful influence on your life and walk with God.

What other influences speak into your life? Books, films, TV and other media are all the output of real people. Is their character what you woldlike to emulate? Ultimately those the most like Jesus should be those we want to spend time with.

Quick Prayer. “Please show me those who are wise in your eyes Lord.” Amen
