Unequally Yoked

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness.” (2 Cor 6:14)

This Scripture, when taken to the extreme, seems to promote exclusion. We know this is not true because Jesus spent so much time with unbelievers and sinners that He was called one by the righteous folk of the day.

However, there is a point at which we can become entwined contractually or relationally in such a way that the diametrically opposed forces in the heavenlies are joined. Just as oil and water can’t mix, so the outcome of being unequally yoked in a partnership can be catastrophic. Make sure you take this truth into account before getting into bed with an unbeliever.

Quick Prayer: Please show me where this is relevant in my life, Lord. Amen.
