A Change of Heart.

“And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests.” (Nehemiah 2:8)

I like this Scripture because it says two things. Here was an audacious request for resources, but the answer was due to the gracious hand of God. This is the essence of what it is to walk with God in the marketplace—hearing from God, moving with passion and big goals, asking for favor, and seeing the hand of God move and work miracles in provision and outcomes.

Nehemiah was under no illusion about who is accomplishing the task and gave due credit to His Lord. Yet his hand was on the plough, working hard to achieve all he believed God was asking him to do.

Quick Prayer. “Give me the courage to dare to ask and watch your favor.” Amen

Have A Crack.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Jos 1:9)

Have a crack! Give it a go! Just do it! Don’t hold back! If you have been sitting on that great idea, stop hatching it out and go and put it into practice. A very successful businessman once told me that the only difference between him and a lot of other less successful people was that he “had a crack.”

Everyone has good ideas or says the all too familiar, “Someone should…” The difference between most of us and the successful few is that the few put it onto practice, take the risk, jump out, and start something.

We are the strong and courageous ones with God on our side, and He will be with us wherever we go. So today just be strong and courageous.

Quick Prayer: I can do all things, for You are with me. Amen.
