“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Cor 9:7)
We are often told how to give and how much to give. God’s way is clear, and it is not a formula. We should give as we have decided to give in our hearts. We are not to give reluctantly, nor should there be any measure of any kind of compulsory assumption.
How much are you happy to give? That sounds like an odd question, but it is worth considering. If God would like us to be cheerful when we give, how much are we happy to give cheerfully? Decide away from pressures and sermons in a quiet reflective time with God. Don’t be reluctant, and do not feel forced in any way. Give out of a thankful heart in gratitude for all He has and will provide. Don’t try to bribe God, and really, happily, cheerfully enjoy this wonderful act of worship.
Quick Prayer: I cheerfully give to You, Lord. Amen.
