“One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.” (Act 16:14)
I cut my teeth in the textile industry in its many forms. Having spent so much time in this commercial arena, it is good to see that God even calls ‘rag traders’ into the kingdom. He is obviously no respecter of persons or professions, yet the Scripture clearly identifies Lydia with her profession.
Lydia was a dealer is purple cloth and a very successful businesswoman. She came to hear what Paul had to say. It says she was a worshiper of God. When we seek after Him, He will respond. God then worked on her heart to give her revelation.
Lydia remained in business and was a successful person serving God in that capacity, having received a full revelation of Jesus.
Quick Prayer: Thank You that You call us from all professions and identify us by what we do. Amen.
