“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.” (Eph 6:5)

Who do you work for? We all have bosses, boards, shareholders, managers, or others in authority over us. Regardless of our role, we are all responsible to someone.

Some of us may have unreasonable, over-demanding, or overbearing people in authority over us; others are kind, responsible, and approachable leadership. Regardless of who our oversight is or how they operate, we have a clear guideline as to how to treat them: with respect and sincerity. That is not easy in our sometimes-tough commercial existence. How can we do that with genuine sincerity and true respect?

The key for me is the motivation of our hearts. We are to treat those in authority over us as we would treat Jesus. Would we be motivated, loyal, trustworthy, honest, hardworking, excellent, and go the extra mile for our living Savior? Then we are to treat those He puts in authority over us in the same way.

Quick Prayer: I work for You, Jesus. Amen.
